MATTE PAINTING

This one's called "Divided". Tried to maintain the right side of the plate and do a set-replacement and tie it all together. Was going for a mood piece with this which i think I've achieved. I wanted there to be a story in there too with the use of the river as the 'divide' -obviously the fire terrorised wasteland would  have more of gradient to the next area but I think by having the smoke creep into the right side I juuust get about get away with it and maintain the narrative. A little concerned how the reds may display, but hopefully it'll be ok-time to spring for a new main monitor me thinks! Enjoyed this one :D

The last matte I did was completely from scratch so i figured I'd use an original plate for a set extension and a photo this time of a castle to drop in. I made amendments to the castles structure to fit and made it on a cove/cliff with an added lighthouse. The only thing that isn't working for me is the reflection but i think this could be remedied with a decent distort filter using a very aggressive normal map. I'll experiment for later images, for now I'll jump onto the next one...
A matte painting I did for 'CGChannel', Matte Painting Challenge in my spare time. The theme was " Game of Thrones". This is a slightly "over-fantasized" vision of "Dragonstone". Could have done with a couple more evenings to finish it, I'll hopefully update this soon!

I was responsible for the Mattes on "IRONMAN : ARMOURED ADVENTURES", Season 2. This is a fairly Broad cross section of what i had to do. It's a mix of mattes used for establishing shots, set extensions, narrative pieces, 2.5D cam projections and backdrops. The style was semi realistic so it would fit into the series aesthetic.
